Narrabeen Ocean Baths
Saturday the 19th September was the day to tick off a local Ocean baths Narrabeen, as part of my project to swim a minimum of 1000m in all the ocean sea pools of NSW. A beautiful pool to photograph – Narrabeen Ocean Baths has a lot of character because of its wooden bridge that divides the pool into two.
Around midday I hit the water and cruised along the 50m pool. The water was a little chilly but not to the extremes that I’d experienced in Blackhead Ocean Baths. There were a few other people that arrived around the same time and braved the cool water for a few laps. Before I knew the 20 laps were done.

Narrabeen is a local pool for me so since this first swim and the fact that Daylight savings has kicked in, I’ve taken advantage of the extras daylight after work and swum a few more times. My second swim was more memorable.
After a down pour of rain and not knowing if the rain was going to ease up I left everything in the car, including my towel. A short walk from the car park to the pool, it was a lonely site except of one fisherman on the rocks. The rain had subsided and the water was pleasantly warmer than I’d expected. There was calmness about the water and it seemed to have an osmotic effect on me.
